How to Measure Yourself for a Set of BDU's
Getting your size correct is pretty easy if you measure yourself accurately. Your going to need a measuring tape for this, so leave this page up while you go dig out the seamstresses measuring tape that you know is somewhere in the house! Also, remember what your mother always told you when you were a kid, "Stand up straight and have good posture". It is important when you are measuring yourself. The measurements you are going to make will be compared to the measurements on our BDU size chart. Click here to have the size charts pop open in a new window.
Okay, here are your instructions:
-
Measure your waist standing up straight and tall. Take the measurement over your shirt at your waist.
-
Next is your inseam measurement. Grab a pair of pants (trousers for our foreign visitors) that fit you well currently. Lay them on a table flat with the side seam facing up. You are going to measure the inside seam of your pants. Smooth the pants and straighten them so they lay neatly on your table.
-
Measure the length of the seam from the base of the crotch of the pants to the bottom hem. Make sure you are measuring the inside of the pant leg and not the outside seam.
-
Now you are going to measure your chest size. Remember, stand up straight!
-
Place the measuring tape under your arms right at the pit level and wrap the tape around your chest and back. You are basicly wrapping the tape around your entire body, front and back in a circle at the level where your nipples are.
-
Now that you have your measurements, compare them to our size chart to determine your correct size of BDU's.
-
Buy your BDU's from us. After all, we gave you all this great information!
-
Send us a picture of you in your BDU's! With a little luck, you might find yourself on our site or our Facebook page.

A-TACS® was developed by Digtal Concealment Systems, (DCS) to answer the call for better and more effective camouflage system integration for duty personnel in any service branch from military to law enforcement. A-TACS® has been designed as a universal pattern for a wide range of operational environments which is why there are two patterns. Designated AU and FG respectively. AU is more for Airid and Urban Enviroments and the FG is for jungle, wooded and tropical enviroments.
Many of the modern digital camouflage patterns currently in use by the tactical community have flaws. The square pixels used to create the distortion effect do not replicate the shapes, forms and shadows of the environment they are deployed in-especially when viewed through optics. The ninety-degree angles and limited use of natural colors can in many cases, make detection easier.
Additionally, the “visual noise” in these same patterns tends to make them close-up into a solid color, producing a “blobbing” effect when viewed from a distance. A-TACS® addresses and improves these critical issues in many ways.
Replace un-natural square pixels with organic pixels. Utilizing their process, they created a palette of natural colors digitally sampled from real-world elements in carefully controlled lighting. The pattern is then created using a super advanced program that writes “organically-shaped” pixels using the specific color information given. The resulting pattern while still digital, is far more organic in appearance.
A-TACS® than Uses small patterns to create larger more distinct shapes designed to work at a distance. Small shapes create larger shapes and larger shapes are organized into a distinct pattern with no horizontal or vertical orientation. This unique “pattern within a pattern” concept allows A-TACS® to effectively break the human outline at great distances thereby, minimizing the “blobbing” effect of other patterns when viewed from a distance.
More effective use of color-range produces a better concealment system. A-TACS® AU is created using a far greater range of inter-mingled natural colors than was previously possible. The overall base color for the cast is a neutral tan which is designed for use in open, rocky or arid environments.
Furthermore, the abstract and intricate nature of this pattern gives it a unique “fingerprint” which is not only adaptable to various service branches, but also makes it difficult to copy.
The A-TACS® FG color was created out of a demand for the A-TACS® pattern in a green enviroment. The easy way would have been to create a simple re-color of the existing pattern and release it as a green variant. Taking that approach may have been easier and faster however, it would not have been the correct way to create an effective temperate climate pattern. The characteristic environmental elements and shapes found in greener, more temperate settings needed to be addressed.
The answer was found in the creation of an entirely new pattern based on the A-TACS Camo’s unique “pattern within a pattern” concept. The addition of simulated depth was also necessary in order to add visual disruption to further break up the human silhouette.
After over a year of development and input of countless tactical professionals, A-TACS FG (Foliage/Green) Camo became what it is you see today. Utilizing numerous shades of green sampled directly from a variety of forested and transitional terrain elements combined with various shades of earth, A-TACS FG Camo was developed to be effective in a wide range of temperate environments. As with the original A-TACS AU (Arid/Urban) Camo pattern, the organic pixels in the micro patterns are grouped into larger, more defined “macro” shapes creating larger more defined patterns. The larger organic shapes and strategically placed shadow elements within the macro pattern help to create a unique three-dimensional effect never before seen in a tactical concealment system.
